As I noted in my last post, I’ve decided to abbreviate my blogs. I don’t have time to write long-form expositions and you don’t have time to read them.
What I am doing instead is posting Coaching Tips on LinkedIn as daily updates. This week, my entries have focused on blogging. Here are my suggestions:
COACHING TIP: Consider how often you post new entries on your business website. If they’re at irregular intervals and infrequent, visitors to the site may suspect it’s no longer active. You may be better off eliminating your blog entirely. Later this week I’ll have suggestions on how to make blogging less painful.
COACHING TIP: For easy blogging, schedule a regular time to blog; identify recurring topics; bookmark potential topics for blog posts; before you start to write, outline ideas; write several blogs when you sit down to write.
COACHING TIP: When you blog, be yourself, let your personality shine through, have a strong opinion, empathize with your readers, add media, have fun! Don’t expect a quick payoff. It takes months to build a following. Having fun will help ensure you keep doing it.
I’d love to hear other suggestions to make blogging less painful and more effective. Add your two cents below as a comment.
